Eco-Friendly Ways to Winterize Your Pipes

There are tons of ways to help protect your pipes from winter, but one of the most popular ones is to put an anti-freeze solution down the sink. Now, this may work, but unfortunately it’s not the best thing to be putting out into the environment.

For an eco-friendly alternative, you can always have all the pipes in your house wrapped with heat tape to help keep them nice and toasty. Another good thing to do is always keep the heat in your house at a minimum of 65 degrees so that the pipes don’t get a chance to freeze. However, this  might not work for those pipes that are extremely out of the way and don’t get enough of the heat.

The best thing you can do is to drain out your supply and drain pipes. If you do decide to use anti-freeze, the best kind you can use is RV antifreeze – it’s proven to be safe when used in the home.
